Iris contact sensor review, May 16, 2020 · The Iris and SmartThings sensors are mixed between windows and doors with some windows never being opened but still needing to be replaced after a few months. I recently purchased a SmartThings Know Your Home Kit from Amazon. Or mount the Iris contact sensors at key entry points to your home and receive notifications if doors and windows are opened unexpectedly. I picked up an IRIS contact sensor from LOWES, thinking it would work with SmartThings hub. The Ecolink is opened at least once per day and it is also the farthest from the hub. I've bought some ST multipurpose sensors and now I'm looking at motion sensors. I wanted to add a second contact sensor for another exterior door. I had read about the Iris sensors and that they were a popular sensor, but I've found they are no longer sold anywhere. They're a little fussy when you're installing their batteries, but you'll get the hang of it. I put four Contact Sensors from Aqara, Third Reality, Meross, and Iris in a head-to-head showdown to see which one is the best for your home. Use them also to monitor temperature wherever they are installed and know if windows, basements and attics are properly insulated. I have ST and I'm starting to slowly automate my home. The smartsense open/close sensor is a SmartThings branded product but it’s a zigbee open/close sensor just like the iris sensor and that device handler works fine.
